Condo Buyers: You Probably Do Not Need That Balcony

Here's a hill I'll die on. Everybody who buys a condo wants to have a balcony.

Every single one. They're like, oh, I have to have a balcony. I'm going to just love being on the balcony, especially downstairs, because you know they're dream about sitting out there sipping coffee, enjoying the morning newspaper and all that. And you know, there are some condos where that would be pretty appealing. We just sold one actually earlier this week. But the majority of kindness is more like this one behind me.

You know, if you took a close-up look at the balconies in that newer condo along Glowstreet, I guarantee you that 90% of the residents do not have not will not ever ever ever use their balcony. And why is that?

Well, first of all, you know, the balcony is only great if you have something nice to look at. That's number one. Number two, if it's noisy out there that's no fun. And number three, if you look here in a fishbowl. So I will tell you this, but you're not going to listen. I will tell you that you are better to choose the condo based on the floor plan and the overall feeling of the building, even if it doesn't have the balcony versus choosing the balcony prioritizing that over the floor plan or the building. Like the balcony, nine times out of 10, you're not going to use it nearly as much if at all as you expect to.
